No worries John, I figured you mixed us up. It was easy to do considering I was originally planning on helping out on this project tomorrow.
Soon Deadpilot will also be SAS'd so I could see all the confusion  ;D

Sorry I got your name wrong James. I remembered is started with a J.

You guys have fun out there. Sorry I have to miss it.

Hey you guys have fun.   I wish I could get away and be there to help out and see it go away.    Please take lots of pictures(Some of us live vicariously through you "retired" guys), because we have some very interested BB folks.   I think I will probably have to make a trip up there this weekend and see if anything is left.

no worries on the name.

I can bring about 10 - 14 extra rachet straps that lava requested.

Anything else needed?

I think we'll be okay with that, but bring whatever you think will help us cut/torch/lift/strap and haul that POS off the trail. We can never have enough stuff on the trail. I'm gonna ice down a cold 6er for a celebration after we finish.

As requested...pictures from the recent Adopt An Alternator Xcursion to Big Bear. ;)

Duffman learns the meaning of Autozones "limited lifetime warranty" policy.

$338 and a lesson in smart phones later...

Meanwhile, Justin, his son Christopher, James & Lauren, and Jordan were all "relaxing" down the hill. After our three hour tour, Randy and I decided to join them.

According to Randy, this is when the "real work" started.

More to come...

Got my FULL refund on my new alternator today :D

Computer issues solved...and fortunately all the AAT photos were saved in PBucket...so here goes.

Jordan getting flamed...and NOT on the forum  ;)

The frame and floor cutting commenced, and Justin, Jordan, and James finally separated the rear of the Olds from the front

Once things cooled off, much posing and photos commenced...here is Justin and his son Christopher

The next challenge presented itself in the form of "How in the heck do you load half a car on a military trailer with no ramps or wheels?"

Answer:  brute force...or lifting force...provided by Jordan, James, and Justin.  To say the least, it was a "J-Day."

Justin practiced his "backing skills" learned at a recent mountain top clinic.  More on that when I get the YT vid loaded.

Meanwhile, at the front half of the car, Randy remained fully committed to the valve adjustment of the Olds...there was quite a discussion as to the weight of 1963 cylinder heads...35 lbs???  :D :D :D

Finally loaded onto Justin's trailer, the Old's prepares for its journey downhill

As you can see, it was getting dark by this time.  Definitely an all day affair.

The group stopped several times to adjust straps for the ever moving car parts

But gets the job done, delivering the rusted hulk to it's "scrapper's pick up" location near the Viscera Springs intersection with 2N02

Finally, after many years at the top of Burns Canyon/2N02, half of the old Olds made it safely down the hill

Many thanks to all that helped with this project:

Justin/Lava and his son Christopher
Randy/RBDuffer for the cutting torch and tools
James/0317 and his wife Lauren, for his heavy lifting and her unending patience with the day
Jordan/knightrider for his help cutting, lifting, and strapping the old rusting hulk.

The group including myself stopped in Big Bear to try to grab some decent food before heading down the foggy mountain, but had to settle for fast food at the local Carl's Jr.

We shared some laughs over burgers, and tried hard not to steal tables from the locals...#44!!

A few of us spent the home trip conversing on the ham radios, and returned home safely well after midnight.

A nice end to a busy day for all involved.
