Cool pictures James...thanks for sharing, especially the fog shot!  That was some thick stuff, and made for slow driving!

Terry - agreed, safety first on the final transport.  From what we saw left of the front half of the Olds, engine/trans removal from the body would help tremendously, and wasn't too far from reality.

Randy should be able to better explain this, but it seemed one cross member was holding those two items in.  Separate those, tilt the body off to remove - which looked like a winch could get them up the final 6 feet...lift on a trailer, transport.  Then winch the body up, tilt, and load onto said trailer for transport down.

How does that sound as a loose/unorganized plan?  ;D

heres my thinking,

cut the body/frame just infront of the firewall, then pull the rear part of the body up the hill, load it up like we did with the back section, dispose.

then drag the engine/trans up and the front clip up, then load both of those onto the trailer.  a cherry picker will help with loading the engine onto the trailer.

to me trying to pull the rest of the car up in one piece seems futile, i imagine the trans doing its best to spike itself into the hill while we are dragging the car up the hill, and we cant get a high enough angle to pull it up without the whole thing digging in. the 5 ton would be nice to get it up the hill and onto the trail, but theres no way i would drag it all the way to the drop point.

I like John's 'unorganized' plan.  But if we can't get get the car away from the motor/tranny then Jordan has a good solution.
Once we get everything on the trail we should be able to separate the motor from the tranny with an impact and socket in minutes.  That way we might be able to man handle them on to the trailer, if we don't get a hoist up there.
PS  Thanks for the pics of Ziva

Im a huge fan of "bring your best ideas", but, lets keep it simple. Go up there, cut it up, muscle it, and load it on the trailer.  Too much arm chair quartbacking and we'll never get it done.

On a much funnier note, if you look at Lauren and James' photos, where we are readjusting straps, look next to John's Rig on the ground, just beyond the drivers side door.....

Its small and black and laying in the dirt. Guess what that could be? !

no i was thinking a daphne could do up velcro on all of johns shirts and pants, then we can put velcro on his phone, so everytime he sets it down on his lap, it will just stick to him.

This is a good plan.
