I got a 1988 4runner SR5 that I am slowly rebuilding from 0!

Its got the 3vze engine that I rebuilt the top end New head gasket+ heads, 4.10 gearing. 5 speed manual.  Currently open diff but hopefully soon to be locked.

Engine and drive train like new now Zero leaks. New cv axles and ujoints, used in good condition rear diff.   Restored as much as possible interior damage and now onto the body cosmetics.  Has few tiny rust spots.

Suspension is basically stock, oh and today I scored some nice BFG TA/KO!!!!

Need to remove the front auto locking hubs with Aisin manuals but slowly waiting on a good deal...

Taking it to Azusa this coming saturday to test it.  Haven't wheeled it yet since I got it LOL
DO YOU GUYS THINK I CAN KEEP UP WITH THE XTERRA's???? ;)

I thought I'd send a note regarding poop. This is a national park. They have a lot of rules.
While they do allow for burial of poop they also encourage hauling out toilet paper.
Neither of these items will decompose in the desert. Poop dries and eventually will become airborne dust.
Arizona has the Hanta virus coming from the desert dropping of rodents as dried airborne particles.
We face enough of a challenge while grouped as "Off-Roaders" that everything we do is scrutinized.

Tread lightly is the principle I would like to follow here.

The Rubicon has had numerous environmental groups try to shut the trail over the years for just this same reason.
Fecal matter in the spring runoff.
So while I have so far encouraged hauling out of poop, and made reference to the need for this , yes it a requirement for this event.

There will also be two groups of overland expeditioners out in the park at the same time as well as a few other small groups of off-roaders.
They have also implemented this same requirement for their participants.
I do not want to be referenced as the Xterra Group that did "something"

Please let me know if this requirement will cause you to miss this event.

That being said, I would love to see you all on the trail and swap stories and drink whiskey at the days end.

I'm out.  Hauling crap around the desert in or on my truck for a weekend is a deal breaker for me.  I've had it with this state.

You had a hair appointment you couldn't break...tell the truth. :)

Question about this trip since it shows roughly 200 miles.  Are we going to have gas stations accessible in between?  My yota does about 20mpg on the FWY but never calculated how the MPG is on dirt roads with 4wd... Truck has a 16gallon tank and don't think it will last 200 miles off road...

Also, I found this porta potty for cheap, which is what I think I'll get for now since funds are tight...

Hope RBDuffer and TORO reconsider this trip!

Am I reading this different than GhostX?  To bury or not to bury poop...that is the question :-\
