Kern Camping Trip 08/15
« on: July 04, 2014, 12:17:10 PM »
Here we go....
Looking at the weekend of the 08/15

I would be camping at Kennedy Meadows on the night of the 15th.
http://goo.gl/maps/PZhGe

We can meet at Kennedy or Black Rock on the morning of Sat the 16th.
http://goo.gl/maps/6MTv4
To make it out to Monache at a good time, we need an early start.
There is a small general store between the two spots for any last minute supplies.

Head out to Monache and see where the day takes us. Camp in Monache on the 16th and home on the 17th.

This is a stock 4wd friendly road. I recommend removing mudflaps but that's about it. All are welcome to join,  just be cool and bring a CB. No buts about it....we all need to be (at least) on CB.

I'll be bringing my whole family and you are welcome to too.

Any takers?

Things you need to have or be aware of and required.
-Fishing poles

   BE PREPARED!
-Once we hit the back country, there will be no bailout. You are stuck with us and us with you.
-You will have to take a dump at some point so plan ahead and dont wait till the last min.

-What ever you need to camp comfortably
-Bring enough batteries and memory for cameras.
-Binoculars
-Wide brimmed hat
-Flashlights, lantern
-Good walking shoes
-A camping chair and somewhere to prop your feet will be nice

If your not a camper and would like some advice please PM me for my little tricks.

That's the one Steve.  It's a better drive if you take 9-mile Canyon Road off of the 395.

Danny do you know anything about camping in these two places.   Will we have to reserve or are the first come first served?

Torro, what time are you leaving your house on Friday?

I'd be interested in driving in convoy

OC to Pasadena on a Friday morning with an arrival time of 7:45am?
I'll leave at 3am.  Should make it!

8 or 9 sounds great.

Now, I just need to install the rebuild kit on my Hefty bumper.  Those swingarms are loose and the bolts are big

Also, if you build me a drop in rack, I will not only pay for it, I will schlep anything you ask me to since your truck will be full of precious cargo.  I'll even throw in TIRES!
