From this point on, The Bradshaw Trail is a pretty level fire road traverse.  There are still some cool sights, and we did see several jets and smoke from ordnance being dropped south of the trail.

Old Eagle Mountain crossing...this is the last we see of the railroad, as from here it travels north of Interstate 10 to the actual Eagle Mine

We did come across this:

Looked like a fairly recent deposit, as it still had the engine and lights installed.  The plates and tags were still there, and valid through March of 2015.  We shall see if it's still there in three weeks.

The next turn took us north, up Gas Line Road to look for campsites as suggested by Frank B.  Thanks Frank, I think we found a nice one.

Just before the campsite turn off, we spotted this cool eagle's nest:

Here is the Saturday campsite, fire ring included.

We stopped here for lunch, it was quiet, a nice breeze, some small trees for shade, light bugs, plenty of space for 20 vehicles and flat ground for tents.

We pounded the stakes for the ARB awning in with relative ease, so tents should be no problem.

The ground is rocky, so prepare accordingly with sleeping pads and ground cover tarps/tent footprints to protect your investments, both spinal and nylon-rip-stop related.

I pinned this spot with my GPS, and will post coordinates in the OP so you can track if you like.

The trek up the Gas Line Road is pretty sandy, but very passable in 4HI with a stock vehicle.

The campsite is east about .25 of a mile, and nicely situated.

We watched several jets while eating lunch here, which was very cool to see our tax dollars at work.

Never did see this guy, or any evidence of a "Steel Curtain," but hey, you never know.

The total mileage on the trail for the day was 73.6, and we exited The Bradshaw early, at Wiley's Well.  There was another cool item along this road, but you had to be there. #orangeisthenewblack

I used about a half tank of gas...we drove "at an accelerated rate" for the day, so YMMV.  If you need to, carry an extra can of gas, but we had plenty of gas to get back to Chiriaco Summit once off the trail.

PM me or post up your questions, looking forward to seeing everyone soon.

Cool I've ran the exact same route around Thanksgiving last year so I shouldn't have any problem. I see the Passport is still there. It was originally sitting on a 50cal ammo can and some cinder blocks. We tried to salvage the ammo can but it was busted and bent up pretty bad so we shot it up on BLM land near our campground (no worries, I packed that home and trashed it) Plus at the time it had a spare tire... That site you guys stopped at for lunch looks similar to our campground. I'll check out your pin in the OP to see if it's close to where we camped.

I'll plan on tagging along for a day tripper since I haven't been on a run with you guys yet. :)

Thx Rich...GTK the Passport has been there a while.  There was a blanket covering "something" in the back seat...we backed away slowly.

GPS coordinates updated and posted in blue in the OP.

My wife is going to be out of town so I have a Daddy Daughter weekend!

I'll be day tripping too. Otherwise it's a lot of seat time for my 4 year old. It works out well because my in-laws have a place in Blythe.

Whatever's under there seems new. That blanket was there but nothing was underneath it last time we were out there. We only touched it with a lengthy stick...

This was our campsite, a tad further than the planned trip: 33

Where's the adventure in that!

I'm not bringing extra gas, but I will not let Steve out of my sight, just in case ::)

BTW, will there be any shooting on this trip.  (guns, not 'the sh**') ?

I'm gonna bring 4 extra gallons in the Rotopax.

Randy...not sure on the shooting regs for where we are headed. Could you do a little research maybe?  Thank you.
