I am tired and been drinking, so yes John, I would be proud to act as the Big Ham Man.  Sounds like we have Tom, Jordan, Terry, Steve, 'Celt' (sorry can't remember name, please see 'drinking and tired' excuse) and me for sure.  I will take Tail Gunner, unless one of you has a special need to heard cats.  John will of course take point and will post the simplex frequency somewhere big.  That is all for now.

I have Ham and CB capability as well, so put me wherever you need me (but remember that I have zero experience on expeditions like this). Sounds like we'll be able to have one Ham-equipped rig spaced out every few vehicles within the convoy if desired.

I'll have a ham and CB in my rig.

Thanks Tom.

I'll mid-gun if you like? Have HAM and will talk.

Perfect Erik (there you go Randy), I forgot how many hams we have now.  This is great!!

You got it sweet rolls and muffins

Thanks Ryan, noted in the potluck thread.

Ham and CB also.

Great Terry, 25 word max per transmission.  ;)

Same in mine.  I'm a mid pack pace type of dude anyways.

Also available.

Thank you Malcom in The Middle.  :D

Thank you Randy, I apologize for tearing you from your bowl full of antacid shaped multicolored hearts.  I always have a need to herd cats, and the simplex frequency shall be...

What is this "CB" everyone keeps talking about? Is this some sort of new mod to a vehicle that I should be made aware of?

It stands for Children's Band, not to be confused with Boy Bands or Hair Bands, although also popular in the 70s.  You can recognize a CBer by phrases like 'breaker, breaker good buddy' and 'beware of sombitch bears on Hwy 99'.  They usually hang out at truck stops and have their names on their belts just in case...
In short, it's a radio for amateurs, where as 'Amateur Ham Radios' are for professionals :-*

What kinda licensing did he have to get for those? I don't want the FCC crackin down on us, although I think if it did all fingers would somehow get pointed at the fearless leader/organizer of this trip.
