I'll be there this year come hell or high water! Been trying to make it to this one for the past 3 years! Always have something come up last minute, but this time we are going! Been to two of the Mtn Rendezvous and they are always a good time.

Work can suck it. I'm getting all three days off this time. Every Rendezvous is a great time!

I'll see you there steve and glamisdude. Let me know if you guys want to caravan down as I've never been down in near Anza Borrego before.

YA!  SUCK IT WORK!

It's WAY east bound and down this year.  Just south of the famous Ocotillo Wells.

Should be a nice drive for the SD folks.  The OC/LA people are going to be spending a bit of time in the truck.
I've got a pretty good idea about how to get there, but this I think would be a great opportunity to get very familiar with Garmin basecamp and my 60CSX.  I just installed Topo maps, lol.  I'm not as cool as Richard with his Lowrance mega navigation station.
Seems like highway 78 east, turn right on Split Mountain Road (adjacent to the landing strip) drive for a while then turn left onto a dirt road that parallels the train tracks.  I'll get it a little more dialed as the date gets closer

From Split Mountain its going to a pretty good drive off road, and I believe this way your going to have to go down Diablo Dropoff (a bit hairy). I'm just going to go out the 8 to the S2 and hang a right out the washes to Vallectio Creek. Been this way a few times now and you really don't need 4wd as Dave says... Last time I was out that way we got a Fwd Highlander to all the spots we wanted to hit out there.

This map should help you guys out, I keep a blown up one in my truck:D

Ha... I still barely know how to use the Lowrance... let alone making waypoints and plotting a course. It's just a giant display right now... Heck, I don't even have a program yet to plot my trips. Haven't had the time to talk to Steve at Rugged.

Thanks for the map link glamisdude. That will help a lot.

John,  I don't think so... I think the furthest west I was yesterday was San Marcos. I did spy Mark (kickingtires) headed west on the 78 Monday though:) so maybe you saw him?

Are you going to make it to DRV?

The date's coming up quickly. I'm hoping to get in late Friday night around 2200.

Don't forget to check out the update on location on AAV. It'll actually be about 10-15minutes after making the turn, northwest of the original position at the RR bridge.
