What's a tech ticket?

I'll get one one if need be.

It is the entry level (Technician) license (ticket) for Amateur Radio (aka Ham).  Minimal studying, fairly easy test.  Then you can legally talk to the world.  Check out the previously posted links for study guides, practice exams, and where to take the test.

Passed test with 6 wrong out of 35, (you can miss 9).

7-10 days to issue call sign(in database).

Hope you are able to get Technician before trip, if not still bring a ham radio(for monitoring).
I went to http://hamexam.org/ and chose the FlashCard link for technician.
There are links for a 35 question sample test and for the question pool itself.
I think the flash cards worked for me. YMMV.

Looks like this is shaping up to be the first cb-less trip I've ever been on. It will be GREAT to not have to juggle two microphones on the trail!
