Hey, those FT-897s can be found on qrz.com and a couple other ham gear swap meet sites.  I've seen them for a lot less than retail. :)  I could even help you with a dipole for multi band work. Oh... and also be a VE for your test... :P

I see a nice package right now on QRZ for 690.

OK, Everybody's thinking it, so I'm just going to say it.

KK6SZJ is the best excuse for a custom call sign.

It just simply dosen't roll off the tongue, In fact it kinda hurts to say it out loud.

Kilo Kilo Six Sierra Zulu Juliet helps a little, so you better get that General ticket soon :-*

IMHO...your callsign is like a fingerprint...it lets other HAMS know when you got your ticket.  And you can always come up with a cool phonetic stylie to make it your own.
