So this just in.... I will be there most likely with my beast of a X. I got all the steering and brake issues worked out over the last couple of days and by tomorrow the rear drive shaft will be in maybe even the front. I'll be just there to help out and show off my X haha. Oh I can bring more drinks if needed.

Nice: I'll probably be asking you some questions on how the 2WD to 4WD conversion went. :)

Christaan:  crawl under the back or your X, on top of your axle, one foot right of center is the breather valve.  Measure the outside diameter.  That will be the inside diameter of your new 7 ft. hose.  Find an in-line gas or air compressor filter that will fit that hose.  Get two hose clamps and six tie raps and a cookie.  Your good to go!

Hey Christiaan:

I just did mine yesterday, for the hell of it. I tried to read the posts and what not on TNX, but it was confusing the crap out of me with all of these people trying to buy a new fitting/nipple to fit into the axle housing.

I simply removed the dust cover from the nipple that's already there, slathered the nipple up really good with some RTV, slipped a 3/8 inside diameter fuel line over it, and clamped it down good with a hose clamp. It's on there super tight and isn't going anywhere.

I ran the hose up to the rear taillight and installed a cheap fuel filter on the end, attached with another hose clamp.

In total, I spent about $25, because I had to buy the RTV and hose clamps along with the fuel line and fulter. I think I paid about $10 for 8 feet of fuel line (which was plenty enough, and left me enough to put a huge loop in it before the axle), $5 for the filter, and $4 for a pack of clamps and $6 for a tube of RTV.

The hardest part of the whole project was slipping the existing dust cover off of the nipple. Took a little coaxing with a flat screwdriver, but only took a minute or two. The whole project took about 15 mins.

Hey Christiaan:

So the shopping list is:

1x 8' 3/8" ID fuel line
1x tube RTV
1x Fuel filter
2x hose clamps

Not mentioned, but I'm guessing many zip ties were used.

Did I pass the reading comprehension portion of this state sanctioned SCCX standardized test?

I think I used 4 zip ties. And yes, the shopping list is correct. :)

If the mod is being performed at the mod day, I can bring the RTV with me (or it's likely that there will already be plenty there), saving that expense. So you'll just need the hose, clamps, zip ties and a filter that fits onto the end of the hose (can use a fuel filter, one of those little ricer breather filters, an aquarium stone, etc).

Yes, yes they were.

I got all the stuff I need today from the O'Reilly's minus the RTV.
May I have a dollop, Joe?

All my parts arrived, so I'm good to go for this Saturday for the AAL and shocks. :) Do we all need any more food/drink?

And if anyone knows, I read this on ClubXterra:

Also we figured out that you don't even have to take the leaf pack off. Just pull off the shock, unbolt the U bolts and crank up the axle. Then swap the overload leaf with the AAL, throw in the center pin and new U bolts and torque down. It should take under an hour if you go that route.
http://www.clubxterra.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5256&page=3

So it does seem possible to do the whole AAL addition without removing the leaf springs. It's looking pretty straightforward then: the only thing that might be hard would be getting the U-bolt nuts off, but I've been spraying them with PB Blaster. I'll probably be done quick enough to be a wrench hand later. :)

Absolutely buddy. I'll be sure to bring it.

At this point, I don't have any mods to perform. I'm just coming to hang out and lend a hand to anyone who needs it. Oh, and to bring cookies, of course.  ;D

Did you buy new ubolts?  Not a good idea reusing old u bolts.
