I'd be willing to chip in some money to help with the second permit cost.

And I think this'll be a nice goal for me to join the cool kids club and aim for getting a HAM license and radio by the time of the trip. 8)

You certainly will not regret getting your HAM license, just makes things much easier as a whole.

Don't worry about the permit costs.  Focus more on gear prep.

Getting a Tech-level license is much easier than most people think.  Use the flash card method and focus on learning the answers to the questions.

Shout-out to Tony for stepping up on the permit BS.  And to Erik for setting up camps and all for up to 30 rigs.

Just a little FYI to everyone: These kind of long-lead-time excursions tend to go one of two ways, either lots of folks rush to get in during the last week or we have drop outs at the last minute.  This might be a good time to show your 'realistic' commitment, the best that you can, in your "percentage chance of making it".  Realistically, I'm 80% sure that I will make it.  If you're only 50/50 or less just say so, it will help with the planing.
Celt and Bromax have committed to working hard to help as many people as they can, to have a great time, so let's help them any way that we can.  On that note, we always TRY to make sure that our leaders don't lose money helping us.  Ten bucks a truck to cover the permit costs is the very least we can do.  If any of you mathematicians think that this is a money maker for the leaders, we invite you to run the next trail ;)   We don't do deposits, because it isn't enough money to keep folks from flaking out.  So let's realistically make this the trip of all trips.  I would love to see 30 rigs making a circle around the campfire.  Let's party!

If folks wanted to contribute to the event I suppose that's fine but completely not necessary or expected. My biggest priority in this whole run is everyone having a great time with lots of laughs and time spent outdoors instead of glued to a phone or FaceSpace or whatever that other stuff is called.

I concur with Celt.  The permit fee is the least of my concern.  Getting everyone out there to explore this amazing area and have great camaraderie at the same time is the top priority.

My biggest priority in this whole run is everyone having a great time with lots of laughs and time spent outdoors instead of glued to a phone or FaceSpace or whatever that other stuff is called.

This is easy to accomplish using the following steps:

1) Make sure we camp at locations where there is no cell service (pretty easy, since MOST of the area out there doesn't)
2) Make sure RBDuffer attends brings his campfire act along. No one will be staring at their phones with that kind of entertainment on  hand!  ;D
