I am debating that. I don't think my wife would like camping in a tent in the rain. If it rain, I might bring the dodge so I have the camper. Will just have to go slower.

You can do that but if it's a large full sized camper you may want to re-think it a little bit. The conditions may lend themselves to be difficult during the winter for a full sized truck with a camper. Just remember if you get stuck that means the other folks now have to get you out. I'm not trying to sound like The Grinch but on this trip, I would like to see Xterras and very similar off road vehicles.  It would work out best for the group dynamics I believe. This brings me back to some of my postings about the need to be prepared for rough weather with the right gear. This isn't one of those trips where you test your gear our or try and learn how to put up your tent, especially if it's raining/snowing. At this point who is to say what the weather has in store for us but I'm still going. I don't mind inclement weather and my skin is water proof.

Something that comes to mind: the rangers should be OK with the two groups camping together, as long as each group travels separately during the day? I don't see why not.

As long as the campground is large enough to accommodate everyone it isn't an issue. You are not supposed to bring your vehicle or set anything 30' or farther to either side of a unmaintained roadway and I'm betting that also includes the camp sites. I have a couple spots in mind that will work just fine.

It's roughly about 180 miles. As long as your tank is completely full at the start it should suffice. I would bring an extra 5 gallons though because weather may dictate you are having to run a lot of 4wd and it's best to air down your tires on this run which will eat into your mileage. As for me, I'm planning on hauling x2 5 gallon jerry cans for no other reason than I can and I'll have it. As to what you can expect MPG with your 2015, I would have no clue you will need to get out and run it in the desert to get an idea.

To answer ur question Celt im planning on getting my offroad lighting, not sure to get LED lightbar or round HIDs. if I go LED lightbar id get like a 20 or 30" on top and two 10" led lightbars on my bumper or if HID round lights maybe a couple 6 inchers on top and twp 4 inchers on bumper. My Hefty bumpers and full armor skid plates should be on the way or close to it!  I will need attachments for shovel, pick axe, hi-lift jack and hoping I can mount a couple jerry cans on rear bumper. Also getting a cb. I plan to do all the work except at some point I will need some help with the heavy stuff. Still havent gotten around to do my White Knuckle sliders, but plan to on my next day off, maybe this saturday. Internal organization well I got some ideas w containers or plastic drawer systems and then strapping everything down. Will have to get creative since my X model has like zero tie downs. My gear list is made just a matter of making sure everything fits the way I want. Food items will be easy. Bringing some carne asada, hot dogs and milk, cold items for first day. After my cold packs wear off switch to soups, quaker oats, mcdonalds cheeseburgers, hormell chili and dry foods snacking on chips, trail mix and bagels w extra cream. For added realism, maybe some alcohol either Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey or Absolut. Lol! Food should fit in a relatively small ice chest. Anyways, im really looking forward to this trip. I think its been like 8 years since Ive been on a run w the club. Never done Mojave Rd. Always wanted to along w Red Rock Canyon. Will be doing some homework w the map, navigational skills and gadgets! Any help will be awesome! Cheers!

Sounds like you have a lot of mods coming up. The bumpers/plates and sliders are all great additions. Don't worry so much about the lighting unless it's just something that's on your list. This run probably won't (At least I hope not) have any un-scheduled night driving. I would like to be in each camp a good 1.5 hours before sundown each day so people can get setup and get a nice fire going to keep warm by. Check around the forums for tie down options for your gear. Do you have the metal runners that go on each side of your rear compartment? If you have those you have a lot of options. Maybe also look at Raingler.com for some ideas or options. Put up a post for the help you need, there is always someone who may want to jump in and give you a hand with everything. Sounds like you have the food nailed down and will be well supplied. I'm really looking forward to this run and all the folks going.
