The more experienced members will probably chime in with better info, but based on what I've been to so far the group does mostly overland trips wheeling for a good part of the day, stopping along the way here and there to see landmarks, do some hiking, then some cooking once we get to camp. Fueling is at the start or end of the trail, and if the trail is long enough like Mojave, bringing an extra jerry can or two is the best idea. Trail lunches are cold, things like sandwiches, and the breakfasts and dinners are usually hot - meals/cooking are individual unless something is pre-organized. Sleeping arrangements could be making use of some kind of tent, the back of the truck, using a tarp outside, pretty much anything that fits with the weather conditions.

Thank you sir

Sweet!  Is there a possibility of getting moved from team 1 to team 2?

Oh that's easy to do, I haven't really come up with a list of who wants to go with either group yet so I'll handle that as people chime in for preferences if they have any. But I'll put you over there now.

The manager told me 01/03/16 is the last date they can be guaranteed. After that you are at the whim of the hotel guest gods.

IIRC 2 years ago at the spring mohave, they did honor the group rate price for motorpig even though he did not have a reservation, i think it just depends on how busy they are and what side of the bed the front desk person woke up on. :)

Yes, she told me she can guarantee the rates up to the 3rd but after that it's going to be subject to availability and no guarantees because other large groups may want blocked rooms etc. I think most shouldn't have issues getting a room and if it's a late comer I can always contact her directly and request she please extend the rates past the cutoff date but I would prefer guys try and book them now if possible.

Ok. I booked my room for the 17th, about what time do we plan to arrive at the hotel?

I plan to arrive at the campgrounds Friday morning.  Anyone leaving from Orange County Friday morning want to caravan out to the campground?  I am assuming 3hrs of travel time, to account for fuel ups and pre trip BS.  That would put us at departing the OC around 530 - 600, get there a little early for more pre trip BS with a bigger group.

Some quick links so I can reference to it later.

Fuel, it might be a good idea to fuel up off Daggett-Yermo road before heading to the Afton Canyon campgrounds, that appears to be the last exit before gas prices skyrockets.

That is awesome, many thanks Spencer! I put those together in one route:

Mojave Road Route

I followed what was marked as the Mojave Road/Government Road as much as possible.

Great job guys, thanks much for the work to help make this a great run (Ultrapc40/Alex). Ultrapc, I hope to be at Afton camp before 1800. It's going to depend upon when I can get my son out of school but obviously the earlier the better for me. I'm not exactly sure when we will be getting into Laughlin on the 17th. I would hope around late afternoon or very early evening to give everyone time to knock the dirt and grime off in a hot shower and take a much needed nap before getting some dinner. I agree that Yermo is probably one of the best last fuel spots. To save weight I'm going to be fueling the extra tanks up there instead of schlepping it all the way up the 15. I know the Lave Tubes are super popular so that's a priority on the stop but as far as camping spots each night it's still up in the air. I would rather see what the weather and timing is like moving along and then we can plan our spot along the way for the best protection from wind, blow sand etc.
