It looks like I will be at the camp ground after dark along with a couple other vehicles. Is there anyone on this trip that's going to be there early-ish on the 14th?

Would you mind jumping down into the canyon and snooping around for a boots on ground assessment please so when I get there later that evening I can take a look at what you found out. If you want to go farther into the washes that's fine just don't do anything you aren't comfortable with. I wish I could get there sooner in the day to recon out onto the lake but it just won't be possible.

I will be there early as well but I was planning to go to slash x have a nice lunch then head to the camp ground. There is a new group campsite that will fit the entire group.

Great call Eric.  Scubadale sounds like just the man to check out possible DEEP water puddles >:D

BTW. Those river crossing videos were taken by knuckle heads.  The clown doing the first video told the driver to STOP.  You should NEVER stop in a river crossing.  The only car to get stuck was going too fast for a POS vehicle with points and condenser ignition (pre 1970 era).  I have personally gone through that crossing in 2nd gear with my windshield wipers on.  Also there is NO current there, it's a low spot in a puddle that goes on for acres.
As far as these river crossings go, we probably won't do them anyway if we go around Soda lake.  Which is very likely at this point.  Then we have the whole thousand square miles of dustless desert fun ahead of us.  This is gonna be soooo much fun :D

Thanks for the confidence, lol.  Since I'm a stock pro4x, I highly doubt I'll be making any attempts in crossing high waters

I might be derailing my own thread but that's ok because I buy myself my own beer. How did the Ocotillo trip go? I love it down there this time of year.

Well...it went ok.  My friend took his sand rail over a large bump, almost flipped it end over end, and ended up snapping both the rear hubs right off!  Had to put the rear end on my hitch and row him back, which took 2 hours.

All in all, it was fun.  It was really muddy from all of the recent rain, which turned out to be a lot of fun to play around in.  It made realize a few things I need to buy and need to bring for our trip to the Mojave!!!

Well, as Murphy always seem to pop up at horrible times... I'm going to have to cancel on this trip.  My best buddy's wife decided she wanted to turn 50 this Saturday and I've been guilt tripped into going... I'll miss the fun but the repercussions of going are severe! You guys have fun and be safe out there

You know for this you not only get your man card punched but also your issued club card and will have to go back to the Newbie status.

Ok, since this run is only a couple days away, I thought I would make mention of preferred groups to travel in. Either you can go with my earlier group or with Sage Bromax's group which will leave about half an hour or so later. It makes no real difference to me which one you want. If you have a preference, post it up or simply line up in the morning of the run ready to go with that specific group and TWO BUNDLES OF WOOD. Planning ahead makes it a little easier for me but in the end the only thing I really will need to get is a head count so nobody gets left behind somewhere out there.
