Ok...I'm hooked.  I'm scheduled for a technician HAM class.  I bought a Baofeng UV-5R with a mag mount antenna and have been listening to the Palomar Mountain repeater...been listening to people talk from all over the world!

Thanks guys...I just bought a CB and thought that was it...now I have to learn about something completely different! O0

Palomar has several really good repeaters on it that you can pre-program and gives you really good coverage all through San Diego and the east county. Laguna has an amazing repeater (147.150 147.750 + 107.2) that hits much of San Diego but also covers just about the entirety of Ocotillo Wells and some of Borrego. I have talked to guys in Yuma Az and inside San Diego on it while in the washes of Truckhaven several times. Good thing to know if a guy needs some help out there.

There are a distinct lack of pictures from this run.  Lacking commentary, too.  WTH?

I was driving so I wasn't able to get many pictures unfortunately. I think people didn't comment too much because they had a horrible time and walked away throwing their suckers in the dirt mumbling about cold tootsies or some such.

Our 2 photographers (cough, Joe and Steve (yes you), cough cough) didn't go...

I did take some, but they are still on my phone.  And banging my phone on the table doesn't seem to make them come out...
