For those of you that have a Puma 12v compressor (knightrider, 0317, anyone else?) -
I've decided to make this purchase. As you may remember, I ran an OBA setup using a harbor freight compressor recently. Well, the HF compressor died on the second trip I used it on. The good news is, I got it replaced free under warranty. But I don't want to mount it back up and have it break again, leaving me stranded on the trail.
So I've decided to buy one of these Puma units, as they seem like a good, rugged and durable unit that gives good CFM performance for the price. I can't quite justify the $500+ on the ARB twin unit to the wife.
Anyway, I have an opportunity to buy the pump unit with no tank for $229, or I can get the 1.5 gallon unit for less than $10 more. It seems like a no brainer to get the tanked unit, but I want to mount the compressor under the hood in front of the stock air box where my HF one was. My question is - can the pressure switch, regulator and tank be removed so that I can mount the pump behind the air box and use these items elsewhere within the setup? I can't find any good close-up photos of the way it's all attached to see if it can come off and be used.
Thanks in advance!
