Mid-week Cleghorn Run

I'm planning to do Cleghorn on Thursday. This is a 2wd friendly trail with some tough off-chutes for people that want to test their rigs. We will run the trail from I-15 to Silverwood Lake. The trail is just under 15 miles it should take less than 3 hours and we could grab a bite to eat when we get back on the pavement. This estimate includes playing on some of the off chutes. This will be a good time for people to meet other people that can wheel mid-week.

Meet at the trail head at 9:00 to air down and hit the trail at 9:15. The best place to fuel up from LA/OC is at the Sierra exit on I-15 (Lytle Creek.) You can also fill up at HWY 138 one exit passed Cleghorn Rd and back track to the trail head but gas is more expensive there. The best place to fuel up if you are traveling on 138 is in Phelan. PM me for the exit. Avoid getting fuel at the Chevron in Pinon Hills. Their prices are very high.

Thursday July 16 at 9:00 AM
Meet at Cleghorn trail head (Cleghorn Rd. exit east side of I-15)

Ham - 146.535 (will monitor Keller Peak Repeater until everyone arrives)
CB - 24
FRS - 7;24

Dang for midweek when I work! Cleghorn is right up my alley for difficulty, I can even manage some of the side routes in 2WD. I most likely cannot make it, but I'll try. :)

Hopefully next time I can join you.  Cleghorn is the perfect distance and I'm available weekdays.   Just need to get the CB setup.....

Didn't want to be "That Person" .  Getting the CB Antenna temporarily mounted until the bumper shows up (if ever).  So definitely NEXT TIME!  ;)

They do make handheld CB radios that will plug into a magnet base antenna so you can move them around at will. The model I have I can power it off my 12v socket or plug in a battery pack if I want to use it as a mobile to spot guys. Amazon etc has them and they aren't very expensive for the entire setup. Antennas do not need to be tuned with a SWR meter either.

We managed to stay in contact pretty well. I don't have a CB or HAM radio yet, but they sandwiched me and I stayed in contact with GG via FRS handheld.

Yeah.....the thought of being in a sandwich is kinda awkward to me.  


I don't have Ham or FRS handheld.  I've got a CB all nicely modded into the Mule, but with no antenna mounted.  But I'm mounting the antenna temporarily to the rear light (another MOD ).  It may end up being the permanent mount - it's a pretty slick setup.  

So definitely next time, and thanks for the suggestions guys.  ;)
