CANVAZ V WRAP-UP
« on: October 12, 2015, 02:47:58 PM »
I just wanted to reach out and say thank you to everyone who attended and helped put together CANVAZ 5!!!

Our trail leaders knew their stuff, everyone was very patient, quick to spot or help re-organize rocks to help overcoming an obstacle....we had our share of slider/skid beatings on GOLD MOUNTAIN, but not once did anyone lose their cool, get frustrated or pop off.

All the trails that were run came off as successful by all accounts and the damage was minimal if any at all; in fact, I think my old battery terminals were really the only maintenance that needed to be done over the weekend (besides helping JVR w/ his step rails)

Speaking of which....

Big kudos to JVR, as well as Avi and Chantelle for making their long treks to Big Bear to help make CANVAZ 5 such a success!!!!  Avi and Chantelle drove from Arizona while JVR lives north of Sacramento, just FYI!!!  WHAT WAS YOUR EXCUSE FOR MISSING?!?!?!?!?!?!!?

The carne asada was flowing almost as well as the beer and assorted adult beverages, although I'm still not sold on that purple stuff that girl from AZ had.... ;)

Shout out to Toro for putting the finishing touches on a great SCCX event, Deadpilot for the early on organization, UltraPC40, Duffman and Celt for being outstanding trail leaders, and all those who attended that made it another very successful CANVAZ!!!!

Looking forward to next year!!!!

-Christiaan

I'll add some more later, but just wanted to say a huge thank you to the leaders for organization and the trails on making this all possible, and an extra thanks to the AZ crew and Javier from up north for making it out! Looking forward to Nevada next year!

I wanted to post a quick post-John Bull trail write up. What a great bunch of guys to wheel with. Since I was the only one who got hung up (Momentarily...) I guess I don't get any bragging rights. GreenGoon negotiated the V-notch on the waterfall like a BOSS! I'm going to see what I can't do to get the video of that posted, it was awesome to watch. Just a great run that I hope all in attendance had some good fun on. This was the type of run that just makes putting a trail together super easy when the rubber meets the rock. My son got to drive the majority of the last few miles of the John Bull, successfully negotiating several large rock gardens sometimes without me spotting him. Not too shabby for a 15.5 year old....

My buddy with his Wrangler did superb, especially since this was his maiden voyage with his new to him Wrangler. His wife was out spotting for the first time ever and picked it up super fast. Big thanks to TDS George for herding cats there at the end being super patient and giving some great spotting advice from the back.

Can't wait to run this trip again and wanted to thank friends old and new. Just a fantastic run!!!!

P.S. my buddy Jason that was in the stock Tacoma on Duffman's run wanted me to pass along a big thanks to everyone for taking care of him. That's quite a big compliment to all of you guys and your willingness to make sure the newcomers are accepted and taken care of.

It was a great weekend of wheeling. Eric, thank you for leading John Bull. It was a great day and I'm glad I've finally made it out on that trail. You guys made me feel really comfortable testing the Goon and taking some of the tougher lines. It was good to see Riley behind the wheel and Danny's trial by fire on John Bull. Georges additional knowledge of the trail was very welcomed also. It was also a great family run. I'll have to get my girls out on John Bull soon. I hope to wheel with everyone again.

Thanks everyone for a fun weekend and letting my friends tag along. Kevin, Jenny, Rick, Jewela, Will and George all had a blast.

Not sure who was following us back out on 2n02 but man we got to go hit that again. I would like more air time.

Yeah, I was tailgunning, and out of CB range, so those 2 launch pads caught me by surprise....suffice it to say, I could feel her feet leave the ground...and I let out a loud 'ohhhhh shiiiiiiiitttttt' as she came back down to earth..... followed by a few turns and the assessment that all was well!!!  Woooo!!!
