Ocotillo Wells SVRA
« on: November 04, 2015, 11:19:36 AM »
Been watching the weather like a hawk itching to get in some desert time. I'm planning on going down into Ocotillo Nov 11th. Camp then wheel a little bit on the 12th and return. Checking out some of the washes around Calcite Mine, maybe go a little north west of the Salton Sea to see what's around there. If everyone wants to head up to the mine we can do that too or try out any recently added doo-dads in Truckhaven that's fine too.

Anyone interested in attending post on up.

sdcaKLR, thanks for your post. I've been all over those washes over the years and grew up in the mountains west of it all. Everything is always changing which makes it a lot of fun with each new season. This trip is mainly just a group of guys going out and having a great time in the desert celebrating it's finally cool enough to get down there wheeling and sitting around a campfire at night talking a lot of mess!

How about a meet up at Dudley's Bakery in Santa Ysabel, say noon unless you want to convoy from I-15/78?

Dudley's at noon sounds good, I'll be going out the 76.
I'm itchin' to get out there again.
Were good with open fires out there, right?

Oh yeah, were gonna have a White Man's fire, no restrictions out there. I need to go to Julian for my wood cache. I'll be on the 2m Palomar repeater Tx 147.075 Rx 146.675 + Offset, Tone 107.2 as we get closer we can switch over to Simplex, how about 146.535? Since you are coming through the 76 would it be better to meet up in Ranchita/Warner Springs rather that you going all the way to Santa Ysabel? Dudley's does make a mean sammich though......

Just got back tonight, had an awesome time. The weather could have not been any better. Nice and cool at night with a great fire. Zero winds other than a very small light breeze here and there. Was able to talk to San Diego on the 2M from the washes north of the Salton sea. Did some fun wheeling with my Dad and none other than the Duffman. One thing for sure, more adventures to come!

Had a great time in pristine conditions 8)

Light wheeling and just getting out.  I forgot how awesome the desert is.

Good company makes it the best.  Sorry that you could not make it Jay, I know that you know, that you missed out :'(

We'll do it again very soon.
