I'm in for a trail run and camping.
One idea is something out in Big Bear:

An extension of that is this path I've been slowly exploring is this; I've done 95% of the route in separate trips, but not yet all together:
North Fork through Bear Creek/Slide Lake to RadfordI took a quick trip a few weeks ago to check to see if the bottom entrance at North Fork Canal was OK, and the access was fine, then all fireroads up into Big Bear. There was one water crossing that was deep enough for me to stop and give it some thought, but was easy enough even for my X. (Probably nothing for 4WD, but I've learned not to take any chances if I'm off by myself
)

I went all the way up to the
Bear Creek campground. Personally I preferred Slide Lake more, was much more scenic and seemed to have more space for camping.
