Thanksgiving 2015!
« on: November 23, 2015, 12:11:58 PM »
Is anyone planning anything?

I have 0 plans.

Should we go do something?  Camp? Trail run?  MOD day?

I'd love to have a fun weekend of wheeling or camping, but I'm pretty stacked with family obligations on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. :(

If something ends up going down for Sunday, I'm a definite maybe. :)

Yeah, probably Friday would be a good idea.

I will either go to truckhaven area this weekend or run Cleghorn Saturday.

Like Steve, we have no plans for this weekend.

Hoping our PRG items (Flip U-bolt kit, Shackles, OME leaf pack) show up this week. Would love to get them on Pepe this weekend.

Impromptu MOD Day?!?   ;)  We could have a potluck with TG leftovers.  :o

And Cleghorn Saturday looks interesting...  8)

The monkey's are chipping away at stone in my mind as we speak.

I'll let you know if they come up with something.

Barb, I'm around this weekend if you want to try to get your new toys on.

I'm up for Cleghorn on Saturday.

Yeah, I've got nothing.

Is there an easy trail run / camping thing we could do?

Like Bradshaw?  I'm not a very good organizer.

I'm in for a trail run and camping.

One idea is something out in Big Bear: http://www.socalxterra.com/smf/sccx-xcursion-pictures/quick-run-on-1n04-and-1n64/ That I know has two yellow post sites along the trail and then the Slide Lake Campground as well.

An extension of that is this path I've been slowly exploring is this; I've done 95% of the route in separate trips, but not yet all together: North Fork through Bear Creek/Slide Lake to Radford
I took a quick trip a few weeks ago to check to see if the bottom entrance at North Fork Canal was OK, and the access was fine, then all fireroads up into Big Bear. There was one water crossing that was deep enough for me to stop and give it some thought, but was easy enough even for my X. (Probably nothing for 4WD, but I've learned not to take any chances if I'm off by myself :D)

Thanksgiving 2015!

I went all the way up to the Bear Creek campground. Personally I preferred Slide Lake more, was much more scenic and seemed to have more space for camping.

Looking more and more like I will be out for Ocatillo Wells with some friends. They are heading out there Friday to Sunday.

If you guys want to come, feel free we should be by the 4x4 training area
