Blood, sweat and beers!
« on: February 06, 2016, 11:42:38 PM »
Hello everybody!  I have just ordered my new OME full suspension set up and I'm looking for a helping hand with the install. I believe I have all the tools, but I may need some extra muscle. I'm in the Menifee area and I'm usually free on weekends. If you think you can help, please PM me and I'll message you the address. Thank you!

Here's what I ordered: http://nissteclifts.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=58951&category_id=173&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=72

And here's the lucky recipient:

Nice looking rig! I'm right up the road in Murrieta. In fact, I recognize exactly where you are in that shot... west end of Ridgemoor Road, right? :)

If your stuff is set to show up within a week, there is a planned mod day at RBDuffer's house in Fallbrook on 2/13/16. This would be the best opportunity to get help with the install. His house has plenty of room to work, the temperature is always wonderful and there will be a good sized crowd of mostly tolerable folks willing to lend all the assistance you need (tools, too). It's also a great way to meet other members of the group. Even if your stuff hasn't shown up by then, it'll be a good opportunity because I believe there will be new shocks installed on at least one rig and you can get a good idea of what your project will entail by watching (or even helping) someone else with that project.

If your stuff won't have shown up by then, I'd be happy to lend a hand since I'm so close by, but my availability will be limited over the next 2 months or so, as I've been traveling quite a bit for work and I am packing for a move to a new home within 4 to 5 weeks.

Thanks man! I'm not too sure where Ridgemoor road is. I took this at the end of McCall on the west side of the 215. I'm still learning where everything is, I'm still kinda new to California.

Hopefully my stuff will be here soon, but I don't think it'll be here that soon. Either way I'll definitely try to hit up that mod day in Fallbrook. It sounds like a good time and a perfect place to get some hands on action with an install. I've lowered cars in the past, but never raised them higher so it'll be a new experience. Thanks for the insight and I'll search the forum for that mod day and get the details. Hopefully I'll see you around. Good luck with your move.

Sounds good, hope to see you there.  8)

West end of McCall Blvd is the same general area as Ridgemoor Road. There's some fun wheeling over there. A few really good trails. :)

Are your coils already mounted onto your struts?

No, it's on stock suspension right now. My kit should be here sometime this week, or early next.

no he is asking if you selected the option to have nisstec mount your springs to the front struts you bought for an extra charge, makes mounting the new suspension very easy vs having to have a spring compressor to mount the new springs to the new struts.

on the page you linked to, its the 3rd drop down option "Front Coil Assembly" for an extra $140.

Oh haha yeah I paid the extra to make everything easier with the install.

good deal, makes the install of the front a 30 minute job vs having to take them to a shop to swap the top hats to the new springs/struts.  using the spring compressors you get from autozone are a P in the D to use, even worse on the thicker OME springs.

And don't worry, lifting a truck is similar to lowering a car :D

I know just what you mean, I've had the opportunity to know the P in the D you speak of with compressing springs to swap over the top hats just not on the Xterra.  I'm looking forward to the install and even more so looking forward to abusing it on the trails.  >:D

That'd be awesome if you could help out 8) I'll PM you when the parts come in and we'll work out a date for the install. Dos XX and Chipotle will be provided!

I also wouldn't mind getting in on a mini mod day if I'm around, if you wouldn't having a third person.

Get the truck on stands, a couple people on the front, a couple of people on the back, and we can probably have the thing done in less than 2 hours. ;)
