Rear compartment slippery
« on: February 10, 2016, 07:06:41 PM »
Not sure how to word it but If I put anything in the back my Xterra it just slips all over the place. Barely hit the brakes or gas and it's slidding all over.  Does anyone else have this issue or is it because the dealer I bought it from put 1,000 coats of shine stuff on it and that's the reason?

yep the back is slick,  i installed a rubber bottomed door mat.  its about 60x36 so it covers most of the whole back when the seats are folded down, when the seats are up, i just have the front part folded over.  the 36 width allows you to still use the utilitrack tie down points in the back.

I did the same thing.  Trim it to fit and you even ave some leftover pieces to use in the bottoms of your cubbies up front.

I was sick of my expensive camera gear sliding all around and slamming against the sides of the cargo area when I'd be racing to a fire or incident to photograph. Most of it is in Pelican cases, but I prefer for the protection of the pelican cases to be more of a "what if" situation rather than a "let me see how much abuse they can take" situation.

I opted for an OEM cargo mat, which seems to be working very well. Like the mat that Sage Bromax and Knightrider used, it has a rubber backing that grips the plastic floor nicely. Plus, it form fits to the cargo area so it's nice and snug in place. I purchased a used one on ebay, much like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nissan-Xterra-OEM-Floor-Mat-1-piece-Cargo-Mat-Trunk-Liner-Beige-Carpet-/141896468850?fits=Model%3AXterra&hash=item2109b04972:g:O94AAOSwL7VWtPtn&vxp=mtr

They can be found in this price range with free shipping fairly often.

Thanks for the replay all!  I'm glad I'm not the only one.. I thought I was crazy.. having a cooler full of beer sliding around on the way to the hockey game isn't a good thing.. =)

I think I'll order an OEM one.. $40 bux is worth it for me...

Anyone know where I could order one of those things that hooks behind the seats and pull over to hide what's in your cargo area? I don't know what it's called..  I'm trying to make my Xterra complete and it is missing that part.  That and I need some side steps..  hmmmm.

PM sent!

Another question..

in the back there's a compartment that lifts up.. Well on the side of it are rails/tracks  My left side has a plastic knob thing you can screw down and tighten and the right has the same knob and also a solid loop that can be turned and tightened down.   What all came with this so I can look to try and complete that.

They normally come with 4 of the loops, the knobs were probably from a sliding organizer box that was available

Damn you Jordan. How dare you sell me something that does exactly what I wanted it to..  Man what a gip...

heh.. In all seriousness.  Nice meeting you and thanks for answering my noob questions.  Best thing of the day is I tried to put the cargo cover in and it didn't seem to fit.  I was in a hurry so I figured I'd message you about it when I got home..  Well I asked the master mechanic (my wife) to help me out to see if I was just being an idiot or not. Well of course she jumps right in and puts it right in place..  Boy did I feel dumb.  lol

Also don't forget to txt me that business card.
