Last night I came across a great deal on an 2005 Off Road so now my 19 year old son spent his work savings and is the proud owner of a 4x4 Xterra.  Its a stock Off Road version in silver and the owners were original and told me they had never used anything by 4 high a few times in the snow, he had no idea what lockers were and had never touch that button.  Jake's spare time will now be spent on his back with a wrench in his hand, looking forward to teaching him what I know and developing the pride we all feel when we fix or upgrade things ourselves.  Its going to be a lot easier this time as I have just done so much on mine the last few months.  I can just reorder some of the mod items.

I am not sure yet how I feel that he already has a better off roader then I do.  I have locker envy.

They replaced the radiator and cats.  Unfortunately after the last couple of years I sometimes think I am pregnant as well.  I need to get back into a exercise routine.

Lets face it.  Adding a vehicle for a teenager cost almost as much as having another kid.   I just added Randy to my Xterra insurance, he alone costs as much as my 3 other cars and one is a 2016 Mustang GT convertible.

In CA, its not 25 before insurance goes down, that would be age discrimination, they go by 9 years after getting a license.  So some of Jake's class mates in high school, did not bother getting a license until they were 18 because mom and dad carted them around, their rates will not go down until they are 27.  Jake currently drives an old 97 Honda Accord with just liability so I may keep that around as his insurance car just to save the cost of his name on a full coverage off roader.

Correct...it is by license experience not age.
