Nice job on the GB gents...well done.  :)

Thanks man. I know they can get crazy and create a lot of madness, luckily this one went off without a hitch!

Living on base is my issue, not enough freedom to work on a car here. Last time i did my oil chance i curbed the X and crawled under and stayed there till i was done so i wouldn't get caught working on my car. guess its an issue here. and no power tools to drill the needed holes really wanted to put up the sliders before Thursday. guess not.

Let the countdown to the first rock contact begin.  Beedee, did you use gloss spray paint or some form of bed liner?

After a lot research, and about 30 minutes in the paint aisle at Home Depot, I decided to use this. I figured it should suffice if I apply it in light coats, which I did. I basically used 1.5 cans per slider. Prior to paint, I scuffed with a scotch brite pad during the Dawn detergent wash (2x), then wiped with acetone (2x). It is suppose to be a Primer & Paint, time will tell. I read tons of threads on various forums on the subject, what worked for some, didn't work for others. Some used the "hammered" finish Rusto with success, but others hated it. Many said they used the Duplicolor Bed Liner with success, but others hated it. See where I'm going? Then there was the internal struggle of Matte v.s. Satin, but after a few minutes I figured the Matte and/or Satin would look more chalky, and retain dust. The Semi-Gloss seemed like a nice compromise, and will be easier to wipe the dirt/dust off. And if or I should say when it comes time to touch them up, I won't have to lay down a layer of primer, and then a layer of paint. I can simply scuff the area, wipe it clean, then hit it with the paint.

Beedee, how many cans of paint did you need?

I used one and a half on each rail. i basically set up one can in front of each rail, and used that can specifically so i could keep track of the coats and can  usage. Once those cans were done, I used a third one to lay down a few more coats. I have one can left for touch-ups as needed after the trails.

The "hard" part was making sure you hit every area of the rails. In the configuration shown in my last picture, it was difficult to get the undersides that are facing the garage floor. So once they dried over night, I had to rearrange them and paint those areas that were missed from the previous day.

Cliff notes, I bought 4 cans.

my question is did you drill the needed holes first or your doing it after the painting process?

Yeah I think when I get a chance ima drill first. Once that's ready I should be able to paint and eventually just use jack stands to put them on.

I put mine on last year.  Since then I have done a number of trails in Big Bear, an eic Saline Valley trip, the Bradshaw Trail, the Mojave Road, and a number of trails in Anza Borrego.  I have not yet drilled the ausillary holes.  The sliders have taken a number of hits, and they are still solid.

I haven't even re-tightened them.  The extra bolts make them bullet proof.   >:D
I will get around to it one of these days, but it is not at the top of my list.
Oh, I mounted my Schrockworks gas tank skid over the top of my WKO slider and just clamped the sucker down.

You can always weld them up and never have to worry about it again.
