Big Bear Gold Mountain/John Bull (Revised)
« on: June 18, 2016, 05:39:56 PM »
Anyone interested in going up early on 06/25/16 and running Gold Mountain to John Bull via Burnt Flat? Camp out over night at a Yellow Post then head back home on Sunday the 26th. Gold Mountain and John Bull are black runs so at least 33's, skids, sliders and rear locker to ensure more fun factor. http://backcountry4x4.com/burntflat3n02.html

Just checked the weather, mid 80's by day down to a comfortable low 60's by night. Still no fire restrictions so it will be nice!!

That's what espresso is for!

Pyrofox79 and I headed up there yesterday early and started off on Gold Mountain then went on up to John Bull. Was a really great trip and had a blast overall on the rocks.

Cons:
1: Found out I left food at home when we got to camp that evening.
2. Found out I left the bottle of rum at home when we got to camp that evening and too tired to do anything about it.

Pros:
1. Had MRE under the seat so Con #1 got cancelled out.
2. Didn't forget the cigars so Con #2 got cancelled out.
3. Found a Yellow Post in a deserted area and had a nice campfire and could only hear the breeze all night.
4. Didn't break nuthin!
5. Had some 2m comms with San Diego in Big Bear.
6. Fridge worked flawlessly (Thanks SteveC) and had ice cold watermelon and grapes at the John Bull gatekeeper (Thanks Mrs. Celt!...She's pretty darn cool).
7. Slept out under the stars and was able to "GOOD" for the weekend!

All in all.... Win Win Win!
