They say you should be able to ski at Mammoth in July this year

The we could be camping in the snow!  It will keep the beer cold!   >:D

HOLY CRAP!  I just went online to look at hotels for Friday night.  You'd think we were staying at some resort.  I got one of the last two rooms at the Comfort Inn in Lone Pine and it's $167 per night.  I looked at the $40 and $69 motels in Olancha and got scared away by the traveler pictures showing mold and filthy and tattered towels.  If you are looking to stay over night in the area, i suggest you hit it soon. Otherwise you may end up in Lancaster.
Be careful when you follow the masses..... sometimes the "M" is silent.

It's the Friday night of Memorial weekend.  All those folks wanting to try Mt. Whitney drove the price up.

My son is going to be very upset with you Steve.

J/K - he's not coming on this trip. But I can assure you that you'll be missed. (and yes, he is still talking about you. He wanted to call you on the phone yesterday and chat  lol)

So we're about 3 weeks out!  Should we begin the food discussion?  Are we pot lucking it, or are we on our own?

This is an "on-your-own" trip.  If you choose to bring or make something to share, that is entirely up to you.  But I expect every vehicle to be self-sufficient on this trip.   ;)

I'm going to bring fresh salmon that I caught the night before while ice fishing on the north pole.

What the heck Duffman? First the Winter Mojave Rd and now Cerro Gordo. I'm seeing a distinct pattern here......
