Post from Roger Mullins over at Just Runs...
"I recently posted that JustRuns had gone 14 years and over 964 Runs without a serious injury accident. Unfortunately that has changed. On the recent San Felipe Baja Run, Peter Canora aka Old Man Pete had a single vehicle accident that sent him to the hospital with serious injuries. I wasn’t there but as I understand the accident Peter failed to make a sharp turn and went over an embankment rolling his Jeep. I’m told his seatbelt failed to hold him in his seat. His passenger, Johnny wasn’t injured but Peter suffered a head wound neck and spinal injuries as well as broken bones. Steve, an EMT, was in the group along with his wife Lillian who administered first aid and transported Peter to a hospital in the US. When Peter was x-rayed and they found the extent of his spinal injuries Peter was life-flighted to San Diego’s USD Medical Center for treatment and surgery and then transferred to Kaiser Zion. I’m told that Peter is in good spirits but faces a long recovery period. Fortunately Peter hasn’t suffered any paralysis from his spinal injury.
I’m told that Peter’s Jeep is Totaled and remains in Mexico at Coco’s Junction."
