As I drove through Borrego Springs today, I spotted a license plate that read "Geo Taco" parked in front of the nefarious burger joint at Christmas Circle.

Yep...that was us.  Watching a little playoff football (gopackgo) and having...a mushroom swiss burger at the infamously delicious Carlee's, just west of Xmas Circle.  A little couple-time getaway after working 10 in a row at the ole Wax N' Buff Shop.  ;)

What time were you there, JTIII?
Jordan and I scarfed a Carlee Burger and a Ruben before heading home same day.

PS, I may start referring to you as JT!!!  Seems more fitting :D

Is this the place that had its liquor license suspended a while back because they found the bartender serving more than just alcohol?  Or something like that?  They do have pretty good food at times though.

HAHHAHHA, local Borrego Brothel and Bar?

Dec 7, 2012 - San Diego Union Tribune:

BORREGO SPRINGS — State authorities have suspended the alcohol license of a Borrego Springs restaurant after an undercover investigation revealed employees selling drugs from the premises, the Sheriff’s Department said Friday.

Carlee’s Place, on Palm Canyon Drive, cannot sell alcohol or allow the consumption of alcohol for 18 days. The eatery has also been placed on probation for the next three years by the state Alcoholic Beverage Control.

A sheriff’s drug task force and the ABC teamed up for a three-month investigation in which undercover agents bought drugs from employees there, officials said.

Authorities didn’t release any further details about the investigation, including what type of drugs were allegedly sold.

The owner, Andrew Macuga, said the two employees involved were fired after the investigation.

“It’s unfortunate that even though it was done without my or my wife’s knowledge, we have to pay the price,” Macuga said. “It’s a warning for ourselves and other employees to keep a closer eye on what’s going on.”

The sting was partially funded by state grant money.

It's our favorite desert eatery...although Kendall`s Cafe and Pablito`s Mexican restaurant are giving Carlee's a run for its money!

Erik:  I knew The Crew was out and about, but this trip was more about face time with Daphne. Our schedules are pretty opposite, so it was nice to relax and catch up with my better 3/4.

Steve:  JT suits me just fine...and yes, the burgers at Carlee's are of the highest scarf rating.  We were there at game time on 1/1...1pm-ish.

Frank:  we only buy our drugs from the gate at Palm Canyon campground....the rangers have the really good isht.

Can't beat Kendall's for breakfast, but at Carlee's, every Friday night is Prom Night.  Love that place!

I agree about Kendall's, believe it or not I have been going to Kendall's (At least the one in Julian) since the early 80's. We used to hang our own coffee mugs behind the counter and just grab them and fill up before going to the table. It was something of a really nice place that served good food where everyone knew your name. I remember my boss would sometimes call there for me if he needed something (Pre-Cell Phones.... Gasp!). Unfortunately when Jim and Marta divorced the place closed down. The one in Borrego isn't as home town feeling as the old Kendall's Korner in Julian but they still serve up some pretty great vittles.

And this is another public service message by the SCCX Unknown Eater at large.
