Lemans(Fire Ninja) and myself decided to take a trip out to Anza Borrego yesterday to explore Calcite Mine, which we have never done, and return up to Coyote Canyon and explore the area where we didn't get to before. All in all, we had a great time. Calcite Mine trail had a few technical parts that were a little challenging, but were overcome with some planning. At the top, there is one of the most incredible views of Ocotillo Wells and Salton Sea that I've ever seen. After parking for awhile for lunch, we ventured down the hill and headed to Borrego Springs to hit up Coyote Canyon. With the recent rainstorms we've had in the area, it looks like ground crews have smoothed out the roads for easier travel for non offroad vehicles, so the drive was very nice and smooth. The water crossings were nice and full, with some mud holes to get a little dirty. After making our way up the mountain, we continued up the trail toward Sheep Canyon. I've heard of it before, but never went back into the area. We discovered a very primitive campground back in the valley, which is the end of the trail. There are a few hiking trails further back, which I would love to check out. Being that I love to camp, I will be planning a return trip soon, so be on the lookout for an invite!
