Got back last night and unloaded everything for the most part. Today is going to be cleaning and servicing the equipment. The trip went great. Everyone aboard did a fantastic job at making this a super fun event with lots of laughs. I can tell you that Soda Lake AKA The Dry Lake Bed ain't so dry.... We decided as a group to see if we could get through it even though it had 0.40 rainfall several days before. It quickly turned into some kind of southern redneck muddin' event. Everyone made it through without any hitches but I did really enjoy hearing everyone's personal stories of getting across after. As much fun and challenging as it was I'm not going to experience that again on this trip.
The weather was just amazing, other than some heavy wind gusts at our first campsite it was super calm and very comfortable by day and crisp by night. No snow in NY Mountains either. We had a couple last minute cancellations but those spots were filled up to literally the day before the trip. This is the 3rd trip so far and as I see it there should be many more. Each year has had it's own challenges and crazy things happening but this group is a lot of fun and if you haven't yet gone on this in the winter you are missing out. I unfortunately didn't take my camera (Pre-packing faux pas) so I'll be relying on the attendees to post up some pics and maybe some video. I know The Rogue Overland crew was busy with their cameras so I'm excited to see what they got. Hopefully I can talk them into throwing up a link. A few others had cameras and Go-Pro's out there so I'm hoping soon enough everyone can see some photo documentation of the trip and maybe some funny stories along the way. At the end of the trip we stayed at The Golden Nugget which I was really happy with. I think I will continue to go with them for our needs.
Thanks again to everyone who attended you are the ones who make this so much fun. It was a lot of fun to see everyone again as it's always too far in between these gatherings.
