« on: October 22, 2017, 11:13:24 AM »
First time hosting a trail run, please let me know i of any mistakes or suggestion needed to be brought to my attention. I been itching a trail run so I decided to give it try to host my first trail run. Very novice offroader with no more than 10hrs on dirt roads, will need some experienced wheeler to give some insight or teach me to become a successful trail leader.

Difficulty: Easy (2wd & stock height friendly) If weather allows
Meet: 2NO2 trail head 34°16'54.3"N 116°47'17.3"W
Meet Time: 1000hr
Depart: 1030hr
Comm: CB:17 ( Not HAM licensed but I do carry HAM radio)
Run Typ: Day Run
Lunch : TBA

Small rocks or holes. 4WD recommended but 2WD possible under good conditions and with adequate ground clearance and skill. No width problems for any normal vehicle. Vehicle passing spots frequently available if less than two vehicles wide.

A total of 20 miles. 1-2 hrs depends on group speed.

At a minimum, you should have at least the following:

- Full size spare tire, in good condition and preferably of the same size and type as the other tires.
- Jack capable of lifting the vehicle & tool capable of removing lug nuts (including key for any locking lug nuts).
- First Aid Kit, and any personal medications that you require.
- Extra food and water
- Vehicles should be in good condition, and be well maintained.
- All vehicles should have recovery points front and rear.

Most necessary requirement:
Great group attitude. Want this to be a relaxing fun trail run to enjoy the outdoors and clean up our trails.

I’d be down if it was on Sunday. I was already planning on hitting Pioneertown and then heading up 2N02 to Big Bear on Sunday with the family.

Looks like you've got a good run shaping up there sir. My only recommendation would be to call out food plans somehow: such as - "we'll stop and take a break for lunch around noon to 1:00" or "we'll grab food in Big Bear at the conclusion of the run around 1:00 pm." Just so people can plan a day around it (especially those with kiddos). Sorry, you guys know me... I'm always thinking about food.  :P

Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend... I've already committed to a BBQ that day, and will be watching the Dodgers play (hopefully finishing up a sweep) the Astros in Game 4 of the World Series. :D

I actually may go saturday. I’ll keep you posted my wife works Saturdays so I have our daughter all day. I’ve never done a trail run with her without my wife in the vehicle to help with our daughter.

I didn’t plug in your coordinates but are you planning on starting from Pioneertown and heading into Big Bear?

Not convinced it will be a sweep, but I think they'll take the series.

Count me in for this.  Hopefully, we can get more people to come along so we can actually accomplish a decent pick up of trash, etc.

edit:  I'll bet the shooting site is probably trashed.  I think that should be our main goal.  Sure, stop to clean up other stuff we come upon, but the shooting site is probably bad.  I have a shovel, but I might suggest everyone else that comes also bring a shovel and plenty of garbage bags.

Yep, it sure is.  Good for my arrival, bad for my departure. ;) I'll probably double back on the trail to get home.

Haha. I'm thinking something along the lines of maybe heading back up after? I don't know. I'd like to spend the day up there in Big Bear, so maybe I'll just hold out until Sunday and go with the wifey and kiddo and start on the Pioneertown side of the trail. Its a far drive for me to head up to Big Bear only to head back down in a few hours.

Honestly I don't mind doing the trail back up after the cleanup. :)

Done & done. Glad to have you on board.

If you guys do this trail please send me a PM of how many people went starting times from door to door. If you do any maintenance or major clean up please attach a GPS coordinate to report to NPS for our AAT hours. Any attached photos are good too.

I'll take GPS coordinates on my handheld whenever we stop to clean up.
