Labor Day 2018 - Big Bear (Heartbreak Ridge, Pontiac Sluice, Sidewinder)

0317 (James) hosted a really cool run up in the Big Bear area on Monday, and I was lucky enough to be able to attend. Only 5 rigs total, and we had a great time out on the trails under some absolutely gorgeous weather and surrounded by even better scenery! It was nice to see 0317 and SoCalXTerry, and to meet a couple of new friends as well! Even got a few minutes of "underground" time exploring an old mine. :) Anyway, enjoy the photos. And no... there's no angle trickery in that one shot where Terry's rig looks like it's at about a 75 degree angle. Notice that James is perfectly upright, and the trees in the background on the left are perfectly upright. I was holding the camera level  :o

Sorry I missed you but it look like you had a great run.

For whatever reason, entering hwy 38 and 2N01 came right up but navigated me to right to 38 at East Fork Mountain Home Creek and then promptly dropped cell service. I can guarantee you there is no truck trail there and I suspect barreling through the creek is highly frowned upon :o . I looked around and when I switched to GPS and got out from under the trees/ away from the mountain, I realized I was WAY off. Had to roll back to Mill Creek to get a good signal and let James know I was stuffed and to go ahead.

I was able to take advantage of the opportunity to plot 2N01, 2N02, 2N04, and a few others directly into my GPS. Also turns out the other end of 2N02 up near Lake Baldwin isn't where Apple thinks it is either so I found a nice loop that I think goes from 2N04 to 2N01 and then I crossed 38 and headed out Santa Ana river trail 2E03? (some great camping spots on the river down there).

Bear with me, still honing my mad navigational skills and one day I will actually run 2N02 .

Sorry we missed you. The meet spot was at the 38 and 2N01 not 2N02 so maybe that’s where your gps got confused. If you drove up the 38 from Yucaipa you drove right past 2N01.
