3-7 inches of snow is nothing  ;D

This is very true, on flat ground.  ;D

Looks like it will be cold, so dress warm everyone, bring some gloves, a warm hat, and prepare for wet and muddy conditions on the trail.  Hot coffee and hot cocoa will be the beverage du jour for sure.  ;D

We're out.

Trixie passed away early this morning and we're both wrecks.

since we are going to run this thing from north to south, i say meet up in Apple Valley at 0930.  granted it means you people down the hill have to start a little earlier, but it'll leave us plenty of sun in case the trail is too snowed in and we have to turn around.
_____
(2nd) meet point?

0930
Apple Valley Mobil
13740 Central Rd
Apple Valley, CA 92307

Thanks guys!

The first day was hard, it's a bit easier today.

Updated Weather from the junction of Burns and Rattlesnakes.

Today: Snow, mainly after 10am. High near 43. Windy, with a west wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to between 25 and 30 mph. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Tonight: Snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. Low around 20. Windy, with a southwest wind between 25 and 30 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 10 to 14 inches possible.

Saturday: Snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. High near 38. Southwest wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible.

Dress warm, watch your fingers, ears, and nose if you're getting those snow showers in 30 mph winds. If the area gets 10 to 14 inches of snow and 30-55 mph winds you're going to have some beautiful drifts that can be really deep. Keep your toes and fingers dry, wear a warm hat. Extra socks and shoes will make for a nice ride home.

Still planning on the gas station at 9 am.

There might be a northern meet spot in addition, but for now we will meet in Etiwanda Chevron and go from there.  If there is a group consensus for another meet spot lets get that coordinated soon.

As it is, I will be leaving San Diego at 6 am to arrive early there, so another 1/2 hour and more northerly meet spot makes a difference to me.

Meet Spot
2/6 9:00 - Chevron:
12659 Foothill Blvd Etiwanda, CA 91739, US
Exit the I15-E at Foothill Blvd and turn right.

After hearing about the snowy conditions right now, I doubt 2WD will get very far.

And that is assuming that we don't wait for any late arrivals at the first spot.  So realistically, we probably won't leave there until 9:45 or so, to give everyone time to arrive at the southery meet spot.

Should we set a meet time at the trail head?
