As it looks now yes I will be. I am negotiating for orders here again. If I have to live with the military I must have some fun. I have decided to make the carreer choice with the market the way it is and some finacial obligations.

The house is good Mitch. We came out pretty good. I never seen it that bad before and I have weathered serveral huricanes. Currently there are still over 400 people missing and they were finding bodies while I was there, two more on Sunday. So when they say evacuate, do it. They had sailboats on the side of the freeway, while some building completely gone. Some people lost everything including the house foundation. I got some winds and flood issues but I did what I could for now.

I am looking forward to getting a tire offroad. Gas prices dropping this is perfect.

I am still recommending the West Coast Meet.  If the doc oks it I may show up for a little bit just to meet some of the people from the other clubs.
I'd rather be happy than right any day.

Yeah the meet this month looks intresting.

We should start tossing ideas around for Nov, how about something down south like Anza?

I am hoping to be up for November.  But probably something mild.  Anza sounds good.

I was planning to set up at least one Anza Borrego run in November, we can make that the monthly club run or do it in addition. I like Fish Creek and Sandstone Canyon for a day trip.  It is a mild run, but there are some opportunities to play around a bit in Fish Creek if someone wants to (just try to tread lightly etc). Last year Tom and Eric found some spots to go fast in, and some rocks to play on. The best spots for that would be the 8 miles or so between the Anticline and the mouth of Sandstone Canyon. Also, as of last year (unless it has changed again) there is that exposed rock that now makes the last bit of Sandstone only accessible to those with aftermarket bumpers and lift.

If anyone wants to, another option would be to split the group, with those who want more of a challenge going through either Diablo Drop-Off or Pinyon Mountain Squeeze, and then all meeting up in Sandstone Canyon mid-afternoon for lunch. That group may need to get an earlier start though, in order to get to Sandstone before all the apple pie is consumed.

I'm busy the weekend of the 8th, but otherwise should be available. I can lead Fish Creek / Sandstone Canyon.

Sounds good to me. I'd love to throw in Calicite Mine rd as an option too. Thats also near the palm oasis we went to, truckheaven, and fonts point.

If I can put in my 2-cents:  Reminder that there is the small matter of the Rattlesnake/Big Bear Trail-run on Dec. 27.

Also want to suggest that there is an ORV dedicated trail in the Azusa Canyon with a Staging area about 10 miles north of the 210 Fwy just west of the 57 Fwy off Azusa Ave.  I've passed by it in the past and have noticed other Offroad groups running from the Staging area but have never personally run there.  There are actually several fire trails and campsites in the area throughout as well.

I've heard that there is an easy trail and an advanced trail but since I haven't ran it, don't quote me.  Anybody more familiar with the area?

Can we start posting up the usual trips that SCCX takes every month to show where we are headed to from now until Dec. 2009? One for June, one for July, one for August, etc.?

Is there any more info about this area, I used to run through these mountains with my buddy on a road bike but never knew there were any offroad trails.

Has anyone ever gone on Carveacre Road Trail and Pancake Rock in Cleveland National Forrest?  The trail head is located on Japatul Valley Road off I-8.

Many of the trips we do require 4x4, but we do have a few each year that are suitable for a 4x2.  A good example of a trail that is suitable for 4x2 but has great scenery is Blair Valley in Anza Borrego. There are lots of fire roads and trails around So Cal that you can do in a 4x2.  Where are you located?

Keep an eye on the Xcursions Forum for upcoming runs, and if it's not clear in the run description just ask.

Hi,
please check my question in "general discussion" for an idea on runs.  I know it's a little far, but a great way to spend a weekend.
